Build your template
Editing your resume? Use the Google Docs file. A PDF opened in Docs loses its lines, bullets and date alignment.
ATS-friendly in every look: one column, standard section names, real selectable text, standard fonts, and no tables, icons or photos. Color only touches your name, headings and lines, so it prints well in black and white too.

How to edit and save your resume
Required: Save your resume in Google Drive, using your school account or your personal Gmail. That way it's backed up, and you can update it from any device.
Upload the Google Docs file (.docx) to Drive and it opens as a document you can type in, with its lines and bullets intact. This works best on a computer.

Good to know: Upload the .docx file, not the PDF. Google Docs can't convert a PDF's lines, bullets or date alignment, so a PDF loses its formatting when you open it there.
Before you send your resume
- Keep it to one page. Put your strongest experience first.
- Start each bullet with an action verb: led, built, organized, trained.
- Add numbers where you can, such as hours, people served or money raised.
- Replace every [bracketed] placeholder and delete sections you don't need.
